In a disturbing event hinting at escalating tensions over immigration policies in Los Angeles, four individuals were caught red-handed and arrested for obstructing a federal immigration enforcement operation using tire spikes.
The suspects not only tried to disable federal vehicles, but one allegedly assaulted a Border Patrol agent.
This latest attack represents part of a shocking 700% increase in assaults against immigration officers as leftist activists increasingly interfere with border enforcement.
The arrests occurred outside a Home Depot on Balboa Place in Van Nuys, California, where Jenaro-Ernesto Ayala, Jude Jasmine Jeannine Allard, Sadot Jarnica, and Daniel Montenegro were taken into custody.
All four face serious felony charges for interfering with federal immigration enforcement operations.
The group allegedly deployed improvised devices with large nails specifically designed to flatten the tires of Border Patrol vehicles.
USBP Chief Patrol Agent Gregory Bovino confirmed the nature of the attack, stating the suspects “attempted to impede & obstruct our efforts, using improvised devices aimed at disabling our vehicles.”
This incident represents a disturbing pattern of increasing attacks on immigration enforcement officers.
Previously, Department of Homeland Security (DHS) officials reported a staggering 700% increase in attacks on federal immigration enforcement agents since the beginning of the year.
These attacks have included armed ambushes on federal agents in Texas, including a shooting at a Border Patrol facility in McAllen.
Meanwhile, the Department of Justice (DOJ) has taken a firm stance on these escalating attacks.
According to a DOJ statement, the department “is actively tracking these targeted assaults against our law enforcement and will hold offenders accountable to the fullest extent of the law.”
While Border Patrol agents were attempting to carry out their sworn duties, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass confronted federal agents during a related operation at MacArthur Park.
She demanded they leave the area, calling the situation “unacceptable.”
Despite political resistance from local officials, Border Patrol leadership remains committed to its mission.
Chief Bovino made it clear that federal agents will continue operations in Los Angeles until their enforcement mission is complete, regardless of local opposition.
Surprisingly, pro-illegal immigration activists have attempted to paint the arrested individuals as “day laborer advocates” who were merely observing the immigration operation.
Activist Maegan Ortiz claimed, “Ernesto was standing up for the rights of workers. His detention is a blatant attempt to silence those who defend our communities, and we won’t let it stand.”
Such claims directly contradict evidence that the suspects were caught with improvised tire-puncturing devices and that one suspect physically assaulted a federal agent.
The group’s actions go far beyond legal observation or protest, crossing into criminal sabotage of federal law enforcement operations.
The incident follows growing tensions between federal immigration authorities and sanctuary city policies in Los Angeles, where local officials have consistently worked to obstruct immigration enforcement.
Despite these obstacles, Border Patrol and ICE agents continue working to enforce federal immigration laws and protect American communities from illegal immigration.
