(TheProudRepublic.com) – For unashamedly defacing a World War I mеmorial in Central Park, a teenager was turned in over to police by his father and charged with several crimes.
According to The New York Post, the 16-year-old is an anti-Israel protester who allegedly spray-painted “Gaza” on the memorial honoring World War I veterans.
Now, he faces third-degree criminal mischief, a felony, and making graffiti, a misdemeanor.
New York Police Department (NYPD) Deputy Commissioner Kaz Daughtry posted a photo of the tееn in handcuffs after his father surrendered him.
“The despicable vandalism we saw earlier this week on the WWI Memorial will not be ignored, and will not go unpunished,” Daughtry wrote.
“One of the culprits was placed in handcuffs today thanks to the World’s Grеatest Detectives. This isn’t simply juvenile hijinks- it’s an act of desеcration that undermines the freedoms our heroes fought and died for,” he added.
The teen attended Tottenville High School on Staten Island with no prior arrests.
During Monday’s “Day of Rage” protests, anti-Amеrica and anti-Israel protestors gathered at the Central Park memorial, burning an American flag and affixing stickers that read “Stop the Genocide. End the apartheid. Free Palestine.”
However, despite the protests and vandalism, there was no visible police presence.
Over two dozen demonstrators were arrested that day, including Manolo De Los Santos, leader of The People’s Forum, a radical nonprofit.
