$500K LIFEGUARD Pay Shock in L.A.

Hands holding stack of one hundred dollar bills

In shocking news that angered MAGA patriots, Los Angeles County is in an uproar over a report revealing exorbitant lifeguard salaries, with some earning over $500,000.

This outrageous spending occurs as Democrat leaders slash fire department budgets and cut essential services across the city, leaving citizens vulnerable to rampant wildfires and crime.

Over 100 LA County lifeguards collected a whopping $70.8 million in compensation last year, with the highest-paid lifeguard, Fernando Boiteux, taking home $523,351.

This excessive payout occurred while Democrat Mayor Karen Bass demanded budget cuts from fire departments, potentially forcing the closure of 16 fire stations in a region constantly threatened by devastating wildfires.

The financial excess does not stop there. In 2024, at least 134 lifeguards earned more than $200,000, with 34 receiving over $300,000 in total compensation packages.

One lifeguard even collected over $700,000 in overtime pay during a five-year period, showcasing the liberal government’s mismanagement of taxpayer funds.

These enormous salaries come with gold-plated retirement benefits that would make most Americans envious.

Furthermore, reports explained that “County lifeguards like Boiteux can retire relatively early at 50, with plenty of time to pursue other professional projects, while collecting defined pension benefits for years to come.”

The excessive spending comes at a time when Los Angeles County passed a $47.9 billion budget requiring many departments to cut spending by three percent.

California’s property tax revenue has decreased significantly, resulting in budget shortfalls.

Yet, Democrat officials continue allowing these astronomical compensation packages through non-competitive contracts and sweetheart union deals.

Even more disturbing, Santa Monica signed a $25 million contract for lifeguard services in 2009, which was subsequently extended in 2019 for an additional $17 million without competitive bidding.

This is a classic example of government waste that benefits the connected few while everyday citizens struggle with rising costs and reduced services.

Meanwhile, the Democrat-led city government has already slashed $17.6 million from the Fire Department’s budget, severely hampering its ability to respond to emergencies.

“Bass wanted to cut even more,” revealed one source briefed on budget meetings, exposing the backward priorities of liberal leadership that values bureaucratic bloat over public safety.

This type of fiscal irresponsibility is not limited to Los Angeles. Democrat-run cities, such as Seattle, New York, and Chicago, face similar controversies involving overtime abuse.

Police officers in Seattle are earning more than the mayor through excessive overtime, while Chicago faces massive budget shortfalls despite rampant crime.

As California burns through taxpayer dollars faster than its wildfires consume the landscape, hardworking Americans are left wondering why they are footing the bill for lifeguards who earn more than doctors.

This is liberal governance at its worst – rewarding the connected few while leaving communities vulnerable and taxpayers holding the empty bag.
