Trump Slams ‘Unthinkable’ Assault On Him

(TheProudRepublic.com) – Resisting the left’s judicial repression against him, 2024 GOP presidential favorite Donald Trump has hit back at a liberal Washington DC judge after the judge restored a gag order against him in his federal 2020 election subversion case.

Former President Donald Trump has vehemently opposed a new gag order imposed on him by U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan, describing it as an “unthinkable” violation of his First Amendment rights.

At the request of the US Justice Department, the order was reinstated by Chutkan, who presides over the case concerning Trump’s alleged efforts to subvert the 2020 election results.

The gag order explicitly prohibits the 45th president of the United States from making “public comments targeting prosecutors, court staff and potential witnesses,” The Associated Press reports, as cited by Breitbart News.

AP points out that Chutkan “had temporarily lifted the gag order as she considered the former president’s request to keep it on hold while he challenges the restrictions on his speech in higher courts.”

The order was reinstated following the prosecution’s concerns that Trump’s recent social media posts about his former White House Chief of Staff, Mark Meadows, constituted an effort to influence and intimidate a probable witness in the case.

“I have just learned that the very Biased, Trump-Hating Judge in D.C., who should have RECUSED herself due to her blatant and open loathing of your favorite President, ME, has reimposed a GAG ORDER which will put me at a disadvantage against my prosecutorial and political opponents,” Trump declared in a Truth Social post on Monday.

“This order, according to many legal scholars, is unthinkable! It illegally and unconstitutionally takes away my First Amendment Right of Free Speech, in the middle of my campaign for President, where I am leading against BOTH Parties in the Polls,” he added.

“Few can believe this is happening, but I will appeal. How can they tell the leading candidate that he, and only he, is seriously restricted from campaigning in a free and open manner? It will not stand!” the former president insisted.

Chutkan, appointed in 2014 by Obama, has a record of issuing severe sentences for January 6 defendants.

In 2021, Chutkan ruled that Trump’s objections notwithstanding, hundreds of pages of his White House records could be released to the January 6 investigating committee.

Open Secrets also reports that Chutkan contributed to Obama’s political campaigns in 2008 and 2012.
