In a tragic display of senseless violence and horrifying news for friends and family, a TV star was fatally shot by his neighbor, following a dispute.
See the tweet below.
59-year-old Native American actor, Jonathan Joss, who voiced the character John Redcorn and was set to return for the show’s upcoming Hulu revival, was pronounced dead at the scene despite officers’ attempts to save him.
The incident occurred just after 7:00 p.m. in the 200 block of Dorsey Drive on the South Side of San Antonio.
According to police reports, Joss and his neighbor, 56-year-old Sigfredo Alvarez Ceja, got into an argument that quickly escalated.
Ceja allegedly pulled out a gun and shot Joss multiple times before fleeing the scene in a vehicle.
San Antonio Police Department officers responded promptly to the shooting call and found Joss critically wounded.
“Once the officers arrived at the location, the victim was found near the roadway of the location. The officers attempted life-saving measures until EMS arrived. EMS pronounced the victim deceased,” the San Antonio Police Department stated.
Authorities apprehended Ceja just a block away from the crime scene. He has been charged with murder, and the investigation remains ongoing.
This senseless act of violence has shocked fans and the entertainment community alike, especially coming just months before the highly anticipated revival of “King of the Hill.”
The timing of the tragedy is particularly heartbreaking as Joss had recently shared his excitement about returning to his iconic role.
Just hours before his death, he posted a video on Instagram discussing the upcoming reboot, stating that the “reboot is up and moving.”
Joss had already endured significant hardship earlier this year. In January 2025, he lost his childhood home and three beloved dogs in a devastating fire.
A GoFundMe page described the profound loss:
“This wasn’t just any home – it was the house his father built for his mother in 1957, filled with a lifetime of memories. Tragically, 3 of Jonathan’s dogs also perished in the blaze, adding immeasurable emotional pain to an already heartbreaking situation.”

Throughout his career, Joss made significant contributions to entertainment. He took over the role of John Redcorn in “King of the Hill” during the show’s third season after the original actor, Victor Arron, passed away in 1996.
Beyond his voice work, Joss appeared in popular TV shows like Parks and Recreation, where he played Chief Ken Hotate, Tulsa King, and Ray Donovan. His film credits include roles in the remakes of True Grit and The Magnificent Seven.
The entertainment world has lost not only a talented performer but also an important Native American voice in mainstream media.
Fans will remember Joss for his distinctive contributions to beloved shows that entertained millions of American families over the years.
