At the daily White House press briefing, a reporter asked about President Joe Biden’s seventh grandchild, Navy Joan Roberts.

The reporter, referencing a New York Times article, wanted to know if Biden acknowledged her as his granddaughter, even though they have not yet met.

On Saturday (July 1), the New York Times published an article about 4-year-old Navy Joan Roberts, the estranged daughter of Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, whom Biden has not recognized.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre declined to answer the question.

This is consistent with their practice of not responding to inquiries about Roberts.

As per a report by The Times, White House Aides have been advised to state publicly that the President has six grandchildren, without mentioning Roberts.

Biden has repeatedly spoken about his grandchildren, always stating he has six.

Most recently, during a White House event in April, he expressed his love for them and shared that he talks to them every day without fail.

During that event, he repeated that he has six grandchildren that he’s “crazy about” and speaks to them “every day,” suggesting that he wouldn’t lie about interacting with them frequently.

The incident also follows Hunter recently resolving his child support case with Lunden Alexis Roberts, the mother of his child, after a lengthy paternity dispute. According to a court filing on Thursday (June 29), Hunter agreed to give some of his paintings to his daughter, while Roberts agreed to drop her counterclaim to change their child’s last name to “Biden.”
