(TheProudRepublic.com) – In a critical move set to capture global attention, President Donald Trump will soon talk with Russian President Vladimir Putin about ending the three-year-old Ukraine war.
Watch the video below.
Significant progress has already been made through weekend diplomatic efforts, with Trump pushing for a 30-day ceasefire.
Trump confirmed he will speak with Putin to focus primarily on ending the conflict in Ukraine. The announcement came as Trump returned to Washington from Florida, where he expressed optimism about recent diplomatic breakthroughs.
“We want to see if we can bring that war to an end. Maybe we can. Maybe we can’t, but I think we have a very good chance,” Trump stated, highlighting his administration’s renewed diplomatic push where the previous administration’s efforts had stalled for years.
Trump’s team has already completed “a lot of work” over the weekend, negotiating a potential 30-day ceasefire with Ukrainian officials in Saudi Arabia.
This agreement represents the first significant diplomatic breakthrough in months, though the Kremlin has not yet signed on to the proposal.
The Trump administration is actively facilitating dialogue between Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Unlike the Biden administration’s approach of unlimited funding with no plan to end the conflict, Trump is pursuing concrete solutions involving difficult compromises.
Moreover, Trump acknowledged that discussions will include territorial considerations and critical infrastructure.
“I think we’ll be talking about land, it’s a lot of land. It’s a lot different than it was before the war, as you know,” Trump explained.
The negotiations also involve power plants, which Trump described as “a big question.”
He added, “We’ll be talking about power plants. That’s a big question. But I think we have a lot of it already discussed very much by both sides — Ukraine and Russia.”
Both sides have clear demands. Putin seeks “ironclad security guarantees,” including Ukraine’s neutrality and exclusion from NATO.
Meanwhile, Zelenskyy insists on reclaiming Russian-occupied territories, including Crimea, which Russia annexed in 2014.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Grushko emphasized that any peace agreement would require “ironclad security guarantees,” including a neutral status for Ukraine and guarantees against NATO membership.
European allies have signaled willingness to support a ceasefire, with Britain and France offering to send peacekeeping forces.
However, Russia opposes the presence of foreign troops until a final peace agreement is reached.
The Kremlin has expressed “cautious optimism” about reaching a ceasefire deal, a significant shift from previous positions.
Despite these positive developments, significant challenges remain, particularly regarding Ukrainian territory now under Russian control.
In addition, Putin has recently strengthened his position by pushing Ukrainian forces out of most of the Kursk region, where Ukraine had launched a surprise incursion. This military success gives Putin additional leverage in negotiations.
Unlike his predecessor, who prioritized sending billions in taxpayer money to Ukraine with no accountability or plan to end the war, Trump has consistently promised to quickly resolve the conflict through direct diplomatic engagement and America-first foreign policy.
Trump’s special envoy, Steve Witkoff, has been preparing for Tuesday’s call. This call represents the most significant diplomatic push to end the Ukraine war since it began three years ago.
With Trump’s business acumen and deal-making experience, Americans may finally see an end to this costly European conflict.
