(TheProudRepublic.com) – In an alarming announcement, the Food Drug Administration (FDA) issued a critical warning about Answers brand pet food contaminated with Listeria and Salmonella.

Despite the FDA’s recommendations, the company refuses to recall these dangerous products, making families concerned about widespread distribution and potential health risks.

When the FDA tested unopened samples of Answers Pet Food after receiving complaints about illnesses in dogs consuming these products, the results revealed Listeria and Salmonella contamination.

Still, the affected pet food remains on the market even though it poses a significant risk to both pets and humans who handle it.

The products included raw beef and chicken formulas distributed nationwide and online. Their best-by dates extend into 2026, so many consumers might still have them on hand.

Manufacturer Lystn LLC previously sued the FDA in 2019, arguing that some Salmonella should be allowed in its products.

However, the company defies federal recommendations to recall, showing an alarming lack of concern for public health.

“The FDA recommended that Answers Pet Food recall these products. To date, the firm has not initiated an adequate recall of the affected products,” according to the FDA warning.

Consumers are urged to securely discard the affected pet food and disinfect any surfaces that may have come into contact with it.

Handling contaminated pet food can expose people to harmful bacteria, risking severe health conditions.

Listeria infections can cause vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness.

Meanwhile, Salmonella can cause diarrhea, abdominal cramps and fever.
