(TheProudRepublic.com) – In a bold move to protect vital shipping lanes and counter Iranian aggression, the United States struck its fearsome B-2 stealth bombers against Yemen’s Houthi rebels.

The U.S. military’s precision strike targeted underground bunkers housing weapons and command centers, which demonstrated the country’s unmatched capability to defend its interests and allies.

This strike marked the first combat use of these cutting-edge aircraft in years and their debut in Yemeni airspace.

U.S. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin emphasized the significance of this operation, stating:

“This was a unique demonstration of the United States’ ability to target facilities that our adversaries seek to keep out of reach, no matter how deeply buried underground, hardened or fortified.”

This powerful message serves as a stark warning to Iran and its proxy forces that America will not hesitate to use its most advanced weaponry to defend its interests.

Meanwhile, the B-2 bombers targeted five underground weapons storage locations in Houthi-controlled areas, striking at the heart of the rebel group’s military capabilities.

These precision strikes aimed to cripple the Houthis’ ability to threaten international shipping and disrupt their supply chains, which have been used to launch over 80 attacks on merchant vessels since October 2023.

“Do not repeat your mistake—if you misbehave, if you strike anything of ours either in the region or in Iran, we will again hit you painfully,” General Hossein Salam claimed.

Despite these empty threats from Iran’s Revolutionary Guard chief Salami, the United States remains resolute in its commitment to protecting freedom of navigation and countering terrorist activities in the region.

Moreover, the conflict in Yemen has been ongoing since 2015, with the Iran-backed Houthis locked in a stalemate against a Saudi-led coalition.

By targeting the rebels’ underground network of bases and tunnels, similar to Iran’s missile facilities, the U.S. intended to disrupt their organizational structure and weaken their ability to threaten American interests and allies in the region.

This strategic use of the B-2, a nuclear-capable aircraft rarely deployed in combat due to its high cost and strategic value, demonstrated the seriousness with which the United States views the threat posed by the Houthis and their Iranian backers.

The last time these formidable bombers saw combat was in 2017 against Islamic State targets in Libya, highlighting the gravity of the current situation in Yemen.

As tensions continue to escalate in the Middle East, with Iran’s recent ballistic missile attacks on Israel and ongoing conflicts in Syria and Lebanon, America is prepared to defend its allies and interests.
