On Wednesday, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) praised Sen. Tim Scott’s 2024 presidential election pitch stating that “it comes from the heart.”
Scott, a South Carolina senator, announced earlier on Wednesday that he was launching an exploratory committee for president, which could potentially result in him being the latest GOP member to join the GOP primary and challenge former President Donald Trump for the party’s nomination. In the video announcement of the committee launch, he pointed out that America is a country that is a “land of opportunity” and not oppression.”
Graham is one of Trump’s closest allies in the Senate and has joined the former President in many of his campaign events in South Carolina this year. Despite this, he also complimented Scott for his recent pitch claiming that he “has one of the most compelling stories in American politics” and that when it comes to his decision “it comes from the heart.”
Graham also called Scott a “thought leader” for conservatism “on all fronts” and claimed that his knowledge of the U.S. economy could help catapult the country forward. He further argued that he is proud of both Scott and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, who became the first person to launch a presidential campaign against Trump in February of this year.
This week, Scott is getting ready to visit the early primary states of Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina. The exploratory committee will allow him to start raising the money for a possible presidential run.
