Trump’s New Stance – PRO-LIFE Base UPSET!?

DONALD TRUMP

(TheProudRepublic.com) – In a development that could spell trouble for Donald Trump in the November election, an anti-abortion activist has warned that the GOP presidential nominee’s is “alienating” his pro-life base by embracing progressive terminology on abortion and distancing himself from pro-life policies.

Lila Rose, an activist and founder of the anti-abortion nonprofit Live Action, has emerged as a key figure among Republicans who are critical of Trump’s recent shift in stance, National Review reports.

Her observations were shared in a Politico interview following her viral social media posts that underscored the discord between Trump, vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance, and the pro-life segment of the Republican Party.

“If you look at the 2016 campaign, he was much more vocally pro-life than he is now, and he had more public promises to do pro-life advocacy. Now he’s changed his position. And he is not only not saying pro-life things — he’s actively saying he would support pro-abortion policy,” Rose articulated.

“That’s a very important distinction, and no amount of ‘Well, it’s just politics’ cover up that fact,” she added.

Rose further highlighted Vance’s revelations that Trump “would veto an abortion ban, that he supports abortion pills, that he supports ‘reproductive rights’ without clarifying what that means”

She noted what she claimed was Trump’s role in the dilution of the Republican National Committee’s platform which had strongly opposed abortion for four decades.

Despite the political turmoil, Rose declared her refusal to support either Trump or Democrat nominee Kamala Harris.

“It’s not the job of the pro-life movement to vote for President Trump,” but rather to “demand protection for pre-born lives,” she stated.

In contrast, some Republicans have voiced differing opinions.

Political commentator Liz Wheeler, responding to Rose on social media platform X, argued, “pro-lifers have a moral duty to vote for Trump because refusing to vote for Trump is a vote for Kamala Harris the most gruesome pro-abortion politician in our country.”

Similarly, media personality Mike Cernovich remarked on X, “Republicans held a hotly contested primary. We fought each other. Trump won. Now you vote Trump.”

However, Rose countered these assertions, expressing skepticism about the notion that one is morally obliged to vote against Kamala Harris by supporting Trump.

“In some cases, you can make the argument that it can be the right move to vote for the lesser of two evils,” she said.

“If he wants to galvanize his base, he needs to stop trying to pander to Kamala Harris’ base because they’re never going to vote for him anyway,” the pro-life activist concluded.
