On Saturday (June 17), George Conway, a conservative lawyer and prominent critic of former President Donald Trump, reveals that there is a “substantial possibility” that Trump will go to prison.
Speaking on CNN, Conway expressed that there was “a substantial possibility that [Trump] goes to jail.”
Conway added that he believes Trump will be “found guilty of multiple felonies in this and other cases.”
The conservative attorney suggested that because Trump hadn’t shown any “remorse and no willingness to bear any responsibility for his misconduct,” and therefore a “substantial sentence of incarceration is in order.”
On Tuesday (June 13), Trump pleaded not guilty to 37 charges related to his alleged mishandling of classified documents and his efforts to prevent the federal government from recovering them.
Trump has also pleaded not guilty to 34 felony counts of falsifying business records concerning the 2016 hush payment to Stormy Daniels.
The former President is also being investigated by the Department of Justice and the Fulton County District Attorney in January 6 riot and efforts to overturn the 2020 elections.
Trump and his Republican allies have repeatedly resisted the charges and investigations, citing a two-tiered justice system targeting conservatives. Conway, however, dismissed the claim on Saturday, claiming such assertions were “complete nonsense.”
“They clearly aren’t coming to grips with the seriousness of these allegations,” Conway added, suggesting it was “reflected by the fact that they were out criticizing the special counsel and the indictment” before viewing it.
The conservative described the actions of Trump and his GOP allies as “completely hypocritical… because the Republicans have always professed to be the party of law and order,” but that their criticism essentially meant they didn’t want to enforce the law against one of their own.
