Following reporting by Newsweek on Wednesday (August 10), which revealed two senior government officials disclosed that a confidential source provided the information that led to the FBI Raid of former President Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago property, Mary Trump’s pointed the finger at Jared Kushner.
Mary Trump, the former President’s niece and a psychologist, appeared on “The Dean Obeidallah Show” on Friday (August 12) to discuss the raid and speculation surrounding it.
When asked who she believed the informer could be, she acknowledged that it would be “tough to choose” before pointing to Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law and former senior White House advisor in Trump’s administration.
Mary Trump pointed to aspects that made Kushner the likely informant, including a $2 billion deal with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund six months after Trump left office and potentially being under investigation.
“I think we need to look very hard at why Jared got $2 billion. We need to look very hard at why he has been so quiet for so many months now. And we need to think about who… could also be implicated in this that would need as big a play as turning Donald in, in order to get out of trouble, or at least to mitigate the trouble they’re in.”
Trump’s former attorney, Michael Cohen, also called out Kushner when speculating who the informer could be. Speaking to Insider on Thursday (August 11), Cohen said, “It’s definitely a member of [Trump’s] inner circle,” adding, “I would not be surprised to find out it is Jared or one of his children.”
