(TheProudRepublic.com) – Coming to the defense of Anheuser-Busch and its Bud Light brand of beer, former President Donald Trump is telling his supporters that Anheuser-Busch is not a “woke” company that they should boycott, while also promising to release a list of companies that he believes are anti-American.
Trump took to Truth Social to express what he thinks about the Bud Light controversy describing it as a “mistake of epic proportions.” He emphasized that despite the fallout Anheuser-Busch remains a significant American brand worthy of a second chance.
“The Bud Light ad was a mistake of epic proportions, and for that a very big price was paid, but Anheuser-Busch is not a Woke company” Trump stated.
“I’m building a list and might just release it for the world to see,” he wrote. He also mentioned Anheuser-Busch’s contributions to the American economy.
Following the partnership with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney Bud Light faced a boycott that significantly impacted sales. Comparing January 2023 to January 2024 there was a nearly 30 percent drop in Bud Light sales and a 15 percent decrease for Budweiser.
The timing of Trump’s message coincides with the announcement of a fundraiser for him by Jeff Miller, a prominent Republican lobbyist for Anheuser-Busch.
Trump’s support for Bud Light follows his son’s defense of the brand on a podcast, where he opposed the idea of destroying an iconic American company over a single incident. He noted that, compared to others in the industry, Bud Light’s actions were less concerning.
Following Trump’s support Anheuser-Busch stock saw a significant increase marking its best performance in months with a four percent rise.
