But will there be another World War?
A Fox News Digital report revealed that former President Donald Trump warned that Russia’s full-scale attack on Ukraine is likely to lead to “world war,” adding that the Biden administration would need to do more than “just sanctions” to stop Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Trump made his remarks on the sidelines of the Conservative Political Action Conference, where he said Russia’s invasion of Ukraine “never should have happened.”
Trump is quoted as saying the invasion would “never have happened under any circumstance,” calling the event “horrible.” He continued his comments stating, “there’s great bravery being shown” before adding that Ukraine is “doing one hell of a job — much more so than anybody would have thought possible.”
Trump was also asked if he had any comments for Putin, to which he responded, “I have no message,” before emphasizing, “it’s a shame that this is going on,” sharing his thoughts that the attack should not be.
The former President then said that the attack could eventually include other nations, leading to a world war. He warned that the attack “can lead to much bigger than this one area,” adding, “This could lead to a lot of other countries and can lead to world war.”
He also emphasized that no one can be sure how a world war starts, continuing his statements by saying, “This is a very dangerous period for our nation, for the country.”
Before the interview with Fox News Digital, Canada, the United States, and the European Union had announced additional sanctions on Russia. This time the sanctions target “selected” Russian banks, removing them from the international SWIFT system.
Commenting on the news of sanctions, Trump said, “They’re going to have to do more than just sanctions, I suspect,” elaborating his statements by saying Putin “understands how to avoid sanctions, and he goes through other countries.”
