Shiffrin clinched victory in the slalom event at the prestigious World Cup Finals.
This marked an extraordinary end to the 2024-2025 Alpine skiing season, highlighting her sheer brilliance and unmatched skills.
Shiffrin conquered the challenging course with an astonishing margin of 1.13 seconds over Germany’s Lena Dürr.
Successfully overcoming a series of severe challenges, including PTSD, Shiffrin demonstrated the ultimate comeback.
Earlier in the season, she had missed four out of ten slalom events due to injuries from a crash in Killington, Vermont.
Nonetheless, Shiffrin displayed her trademark precision and strategic acumen as she outperformed the field with the fastest time in both runs.
While Shiffrin did not reclaim the slalom season title, which went to 21-year-old Zrinka Ljutić of Croatia, her fourth-place finish in the slalom standings, despite the setbacks, underscores her staying power in the sport.
“I have felt so much support from U.S. fans, and being able to return back home for the final races of the season is super exciting,” Shiffrin said.
“It’s just cool to be here and share this atmosphere with the U.S. fans and so many young racers in this area who are so excited to be here,” she added, cited by US Ski and Snowboard.
In addition to her 101st win, Shiffrin also reached another milestone by standing on a World Cup podium 156 times—more than any other skier in history.
Her phenomenal performances continued as she captured the team combined gold at the world championships, displaying her versatility and prowess on the global stage.
“Ending the season with this level in slalom gives me a lot of energy. It gives me energy to do the work. It feels like there’s a lot of work to do, but this gives me the inspiration to do that,” Shiffrin shared enthusiastically after her heartening victory.
Despite the mental obstacles stemming from earlier crashes, Shiffrin expressed determination to hone her skills further in the giant slalom next season.
