(TheProudRepublic.com) – The Texas Military Department (TMD) is firmly continuing its mission at Shelby Park, determined to “deter and prevent unlawful entry into the State of Texas” and do as the Texas governor orders regardless of the Biden administration’s efforts diminish their actions.
This stance comes under the directives of Operation Lone Star, a program initiated by Governor Greg Abbott. Despite facing opposition, including a second demand letter from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for the release of Shelby Park, which the State seized earlier this month, the Texas National Guard is persisting in its efforts.
Governor Abbott has reaffirmed his commitment to fortifying the Texas-Mexico border with razor wire.
In a post on X, TMD officials articulated their unwavering commitment, stating, “We remain resolute in our actions to secure our border, preserve the rule of law, and protect the sovereignty of our State.” This declaration underscores Texas’ firm resolve in addressing border security issues.
After DHS issued a second letter to Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton, demanding access to Shelby Park in Eagle Pass, Texas, Governor Abbott responded with defiance. He stated, “We will continue to deploy this razor wire to repel illegal immigration.” This response highlights Texas’ determination to use physical barriers as a means to curb illegal border crossings.
Photographs posted on X depict Texas National Guardsmen equipped with riot shields, standing guard along the installed razor wire. These images serve as a visual testament to the state’s proactive measures in preventing illegal entries into Texas.
The legal landscape surrounding these efforts shifted on Monday. The U.S. Supreme Court reversed a Temporary Restraining Order issued by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
This decision allows U.S. Border Patrol agents to cut or remove the razor wire installed by the TMD along the Rio Grande’s banks. In response, Governor Abbott firmly stated, “This is not over. Texas’ razor wire is an effective deterrent to the illegal crossings Biden encourages.” His comment reflects a critical view of the current federal administration’s approach to border control.
Further highlighting the ongoing activities at the border, CBS News’ Camilo Montoya-Galvez posted a video from Shelby Park on Tuesday.
The video shows Guardsmen continuing the construction of additional fencing and razor wire. Despite facing legal and administrative hurdles, Texas remains proactive in enhancing its border security measures.
