Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) believes President Joe Biden’s plans to visit El Paso on Sunday (January 8) are overdue and isn’t pleased with Biden’s plan to curtail mass migration.

Speaking to Fox News’s “America’s Newsroom,” Abbott expressed his belief that Biden’s immigration policy would only entice more migrants to cross illegally.

The Texas Governor noted that it was “about time” Biden visited the U.S.-Mexico Border to witness the “chaos” his administration had created.

Abbott’s statements came a day after Biden announced his administration’s effort to curb mass migration as the U.S. deals with record-breaking border crossings.

The White House essentially announced an extension of Title 42, making the policy applicable to citizens of countries like Haiti, Cuba, and Nicaragua.

The new policy would cap the number of migrants able to enter the U.S. from these countries to 30,000 a month.

Biden described the policy as granting “parole” to eligible migrants from the nations. He added, during the nationally televised broadcast, that migrants shouldn’t “show up at the border.”

Instead, he encouraged migrants to remain in their countries and apply from there.

But Abbott expressed his misgivings that the plan would have the desired effect, saying that rather than discouraging migrants from crossing illegally, Biden’s plans would likely encourage more Migrants to cross illegally.

Instead, Abbott insisted that Biden’s plan — which will only go into effect after the Department of Homeland Security and Department of Justice hear public comment — was non-existent.

Abbott noted that unlike Republicans, who Biden asserted didn’t have a plan for the border, the President “has no plan to secure the border.”
