This is so unfair.
On Sunday, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), was the latest target of a permanent ban for spreading “misinformation” about COVID-19 on Twitter.
In a statement, Twitter revealed they had permanently suspended Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene “for repeated violations of our COVID-19 misinformation policy.”
The social media company added that they had been clear about their policy’s strike system, which dictates accounts will be suspended for repeated policy violations.
Greene took to GETTR –– a conservative social media platform founded by former spokesman and aide to former President Donald Trump –– to respond to Twitter’s decision. In the post, the congresswoman highlighted Twitter’s apparent hypocrisy. She pointed out how, using Twitter, Maxine Waters could “go to the streets and threaten violence,” Kamala Harris could bail out rioters, and “Chief spokesman for terrorist IRGC can tweet mourning Soleimani,” before expressing her grievance that she was suspended for “tweeting VAERS statistics.”
In the post on GETTR, Greene also shared her thoughts on Twitter being “an enemy to America,” saying the social media platform couldn’t handle the truth. She concluded her post by saying that she would “show America we don’t need them and it’s time to defeat our enemies.”
In a report by Rolling Stone, it seems as though Greene could have been suspended for a tweet she posted on Saturday (January 1st) in which she mentioned an “extremely high amount of covid vaccine deaths” being “ignored.”
Her permanent suspension follows nearly two years of numerous temporary account suspensions, where Twitter accused her of spreading misinformation.
Greene’s most recent temporary suspension took place in August, where she was suspended from Twitter for one week after tweeting that COVID-19 vaccines were “failing.”
The congresswoman’s suspension comes days after Twitter permanently suspended outspoken physician Dr Robert Malone’s account for spreading misinformation regarding COVID-19. The physician –– who was a key developer in the mRNA technology used in COVID-19 vaccines –– was suspended after he tweeted that Pfizer’s inoculations had done more harm than good and linked to a video that pointed out “Pfizer trial flaws in both design and execution.” The outspoken physician would later appear on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast to discuss his views on the vaccine.
