Former Vice President Mike Pence during an interview with CBS News refused to reveal whether he would back former President Trump who he had previously served under. Trump has already placed a bid for the 2024 presidential election.

Instead of expressing support for Trump, Pence instead stated that “I think we’ll have better choices.”

Speculations want Pence to be considering placing a bid on the White House himself. On Wednesday he noted that he would soon be making a decision and that by spring he would know whether or not he is placing a bid on the White House.

CBS News Caitlin Huey-Burns pressed Pence on what his place in the GOP field would be, especially since a number of pro-Trump supporters would still be “upset” with him for refusing to support Trump’s attempts to block the certification of the electoral victory of President Biden on Jan. 6. Following his loss in the 2020 election, Trump has repeatedly claimed that the election had been “stolen” from him.

Huey-Burns questioned the extent to which moving those voters is possible. In response Pence noted that he believed in the American people. He added that he did not think anyone other than Trump could have won in 2016 against Hillary Clinton. He continued to say that Trump marked a change of leadership and was able to defeat Clinton’s campaign which had been designed over many years. As he stated he believed that the Republican voters would be able to make a wise choice on who to vote for again.
