Should Pelosi do this?
It now appears that Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota strongly believes House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will get revenge on Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert and strip her of her committee assignments next week.
According to the Washington Examiner, Rep. Boebert came under fire from the Democrats after a video leaked of Boebert making comments insulting to Rep. Ilhan Omar’s faith. Omar then explained how Speaker Pelosi promised to her that she would take care of Boebert and punish her for the offensive comments made against her.
After the leaked video was released on the internet, Omar declared that Boebert should be punished and sanctioned by having her committees stripped from her and she be rebuked in Congress. Omar then explained that Democratic leaders should punish Boebert, “by doing everything that we can to send a clear and decisive message to the American public that if the Republicans are not going to be adults and condemn this, that we are going to do that.”
In the video which has since gone viral, Boebert can be seen standing on a stage suggesting to a crowd that Rep. Ilhan Omar was seen as a security threat to the United States Capitol Police.
Pelosi recently held a closed door meeting with Democrats and called Boebert’s comments “indecent” and “dangerous” but did not mention her by name.
Many on social media believe that Rep. Boebert shouldn’t be punished for her comments about Rep. Omar since America allows freedom of speech for everyone. However, it is unlikely for Boebert to go unpunished for her comments since Democrats currently control both the House and Senate. Boebert has been in Democratic crosshairs since the January 6th Capitol protest, where many Democrats are accusing Boebert of being in some way involved.
