(TheProudRepublic.com) – In a decision that surely most support, President Trump took bold action to break America’s dangerous dependency on China for critical minerals by signing an executive order that invokes wartime powers.
The order expedites the domestic production of essential minerals like uranium, copper, and gold, which are vital for national security and economic strength.
China currently controls a shocking 70% of America’s rare earth imports, threatening American industry and defense.
Using the Defense Production Act, Trump’s executive order directs federal agencies to fast-track permits for mining and processing projects and prioritizes mineral production on federal lands.
This decisive move fulfills Trump’s promise to put America first and end reliance on hostile foreign powers for resources critical to national security.
A White House official confirmed:
“U.S. President Donald Trump is invoking emergency powers to boost the ability of the U.S. to produce critical minerals — and potentially coal — as part of a broad effort to ramp up the development of domestic natural resources and make the country less reliant on foreign imports.”
The legislation creates a powerful financing mechanism through the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation working alongside the Department of Defense.
These agencies will directly fund new American mining and processing operations, creating thousands of high-paying jobs while strengthening national security.
Currently, America is dangerously dependent on imports of at least 15 critical minerals essential for everything from smartphones to fighter jets.
In his Joint Address to Congress earlier this month, Trump described the initiative as a “historic action to dramatically expand production” of critical minerals and rare earth elements.
The executive order specifically targets minerals, including uranium, copper, potash, and gold—America’s most abundant resources.
Still, it has been prevented from accessing due to excessive regulation and environmental roadblocks.
This critical reform comes as China continues its economic aggression against America. Beijing recently implemented export controls on essential materials like germanium, gallium, and antimony.
Beijing’s actions have highlighted the vulnerability created by decades of globalist policies that outsourced America’s industrial capacity to foreign adversaries.
The executive order declared, “It is imperative for our national security that the United States take immediate action to facilitate domestic mineral production to the maximum possible extent.”
Beyond domestic production, Trump is securing America’s mineral supply chain through strategic partnerships abroad.
“We’re also signing agreements in various locations to unlock rare earths and minerals and lots of other things all over the world, but in particular Ukraine,” President Trump stated.
The bill order also created the National Energy Dominance Council to oversee implementation and ensure regulatory obstacles do not prevent American companies from accessing these resources.
By prioritizing American mineral production, Trump is reversing decades of increasing dependency that began under previous administrations from both parties.
With this order, Trump has taken another major step toward his vision of American energy dominance.
The initiative is expected to create thousands of mining and manufacturing jobs in states like Nevada, Arizona, and West Virginia while ensuring America never again finds itself at the mercy of foreign suppliers for the minerals that power our military and economy.
