(TheProudRepublic.com) – Teaching President Joe Biden and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer a toughness and determination lesson, Israel’s conservative leader Benjamin Netanyahu has defied their pressure to dial down the Israeli military crackdown against the Islamist terrorists from Hamas in Gaza.

At the start of an Israeli Cabinet meeting on Sunday, Netanyahu announced a commitment to continue with a planned ground offensive against Hamas in the southern region of Gaza’s Rafah.
“No amount of international pressure will stop us from realizing all the goals of the war: eliminating Hamas, releasing all our hostages and ensuring that Gaza will no longer pose a threat to Israel,” he stated.
“To do this, we will also operate in Rafah,” Israel’s prime minister added.
This statement was made amidst expectations that negotiations aimed at establishing a ceasefire in Gaza would resume in Doha, Qatar.
Israel has been engaged in a conflict against Hamas in the area for over five months after, on October 7, the Iranian proxy and Palestinian Arab terrorist group massacred over 1,400 Israelis and foreigners.
The Israeli cabinet was scheduled to deliberate on the directive of the negotiation team later that Sunday, as per an announcement from Netanyahu’s office.
Additionally, Netanyahu was set to discuss with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, who was anticipated to reiterate his caution against the ground operation in Rafah.
The majority of Gaza’s 2.4 million inhabitants have sought refuge in Rafah from the continuous bombardment by Israel. This city is located near Gaza’s border with Egypt.
US President Joe Biden, while supporting Israel during the conflict, has indicated that an Israeli invasion of Rafah would cross a “red line” in the absence of a credible plan for the protection of civilians.
Antony Blinken, the US Secretary of State, emphasized on Friday the United States’ desire for a “clear and implementable plan” for Rafah that ensures civilian safety.
Chuck Schumer, the Democrat leader of the US Senate, called on Thursday for Israel to conduct new elections to remove Netanyahu.
This led to a stern rebuttal from Netanyahu’s Likah party, which declared that Israel “is not a banana republic.”
“If we stop the war now, before all of its goals are achieved, it means that Israel has lost the war, and we will not allow that,” Netanyahu said Sunday.
