(TheProudRepublic.com) – In a stunning display of patriotic unity, Congress finally officially recognized the bald eagle as America’s national bird.

The U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill to designate the bald eagle as the official bird of the United States after the Senate unanimously approved it on July 29.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar introduced this bipartisan legislation, which now awaits Joe Biden’s signature to become law.

“The bald eagle is a symbol of our country’s freedom and strength. In Minnesota, we know a thing or two about eagles: we are home to one of the largest populations of bald eagles in the country as well as the National Eagle Center in Wabasha,” Klobuchar stated.

For patriots who have long cherished the bald eagle as a symbol of American strength and independence, this official recognition is a welcome affirmation of the nation’s values.

The magnificent bird has been a staple of the national seal since 1782 and has been featured on state flags, official seals and countless patriotic emblems.

Rep. Brad Finstad and Sen. Cynthia Lummis strongly supported this measure, understanding the deep significance of the bald eagle to the American spirit.

The bill highlights the bird’s unique status as a symbol of independence, strength and freedom, qualities that resonate deeply with Americans.

“The bald eagle has been a universally recognizable symbol of patriotism in this country for centuries,” said Sen. Tina Smith.

Notably, this legislation also acknowledges the bald eagle’s significance in the spiritual and cultural practices of indigenous peoples and tribal communities, which serves as a reminder of America’s rich heritage.

The effort to officially designate the bald eagle as our national bird was led by Preston Cook, an “eaglevangelist” from Wabasha, Minnesota.

Cook’s dedication to this cause is a shining example of grassroots patriotism in action.

He has collected over 40,000 eagle-related items that are stored in the National Eagle Center.

It is worth noting that this legislation does not require any taxpayer funding, proving that meaningful change can happen without burdening hardworking Americans.

The bill simply codifies what patriots have known all along: the bald eagle is the ultimate representation of American values and ideals.
