On Thursday (March 30), after news broke that former President Donald Trump had been indicted, Republican Senator Lindsey Graham (S.C.) called on Fox News viewers to donate to Trump’s campaign because his political opponents were attempting to “bleed him dry.”
In an interview with Sean Hannity, Graham insisted conservatives donate to Trump’s campaign.
He called on them to “help” Trump, as there was an effort to “drain him dry” as the former President has “spent more money on lawyers” than most politicians “spend on campaigns,” insisting Trump’s political adversaries were “trying to bleed him dry.”
The South Carolina Republican explained that the Manhattan grand jury indicting Trump in the $130,000 Stormy Daniels hush money case would “destroy America.
Although the indictment remains sealed, the grand jury indicting Trump had been investigating the $130,000 payment made to adult film star Stormy Daniels in the days leading up to the 2016 elections.
Trump’s then-attorney Michael Cohen made the payment in exchange for Daniels’s silence about an alleged affair she had with Trump years prior, while former First Lady Melania Trump had just given birth to Baron Trump.
Cohen’s asserted he made the payment at Trump’s urging, with the former President paying him back in installments after securing the White House.
The former President admitted to reimbursing Cohen but explained that those funds didn’t come from his campaign while denying that he ever had an affair with Daniels.
Following the indictment, the South Carolina Republican also described the case against Trump as “legal voodoo.”
