On Wednesday (February 15), Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) signed a bill into law that would enable the state to continue it’s transportation — and relocation — of illegal migrants to other states.

Taking to Twitter in the afternoon, DeSantis captioned the image of the signing ceremony, “Florida is using all tools available to protect our citizens from Biden’s open border policies.”

The Florida Governor expressed joy that he could protect the state’s program to relocate illegal migrants to “sanctuary destinations” through legislation.

DeSantis also expressed gratitude to the “legislature for maintaining this valuable tool.”

The program, which has received $10 million in funding, enables Florida to transport illegal immigrants to other locations in the U.S., something Texas Governor Greg Abbott popularized in an attempt to manage the Lone Star state’s border crisis.

Last week, the legislation DeSantis touted passed the state’s Senate floor, 27-12, with the state’s House passing it 77-34.

DeSantis, who is speculated to be mulling throwing his hat into the Presidential race, acknowledged at a recent news conference that Americans are “sick” of the “open border with no rule of law.”

DeSantis explained that the state had two choices: sit and “do nothing” about the border crisis or use “whatever tools we have at our disposal.”

The legislation comes months after DeSantis waded into an effort to relocate migrants by flying 50 illegal migrants from Texas to Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts.

DeSantis joined Abbott and then-Governor of Arizona Doug Ducey, who had already bussed thousands of migrants to Washington, D.C., New York City, and Chicago, with the widely criticized move.
