On Monday (April 24), a lawyer for President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, called on the Office of Congressional Ethics to investigate Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) for “unhinged rhetoric” and possible violations of the House ethics rules and official standards of conduct.
The letter from attorney AbbĂ© David Lowell explained that the Georgia Republican had violated House Ethics rules and standards through “continuous verbal attacks, defamatory statements, publication of personal photos and data” in addition to Greene promoting “conspiracy theories about and against Robert Hunter Biden.”
Lowell added that Greene’s statements could not be considered “part of any legitimate legislative activity,” explaining this was “clear from both the content of her statements and actions,” in addition to where she chooses to share her “unhinged rhetoric.”
The letter claims that Greene’s online statements and public remarks about Biden and his family are “shotgun pellets of personal vitriol” worsened by her official position as a member of Congress.
Lowell identifies several social media posts by Greene, including one in which the Georgia Republican accused Biden of being “linked to” Eastern European “prostitution or human trafficking ring.”
Hunter Biden has been under federal investigation into his tax and foreign business dealings in recent years, with former President Donald Trump and allies like Greene seizing on the President’s son’s legal troubles.
The younger Biden’s legal team also sent the Treasury Department letter on Monday, requesting the Office of the Inspector General to Probe how Trump’s former White House aide, Garrett Zeigler, acquired, retained, and published “on his website” suspicious reports supposedly showing activity reports from J.P. Morgan Chase bank about Hunter Biden.
