An image was recently shared showing the First Lady, Jill Biden, alongside drag queens at the San Francisco venue known as Welcome to Manny’s. This venue is known for being a community-centered spot where individuals can engage with various civic leaders, activists, and artists.

The picture shared by Welcome to Manny’s had Jill Biden in the midst of five drag queens. The venue emphasized its commitment to being both politically active and supportive of the queer community.

The photo captured a memorable moment where San Francisco’s drag queens met with the First Lady in a civic-focused setting in San Francisco’s Mission District, as described by the venue.

However, not everyone who saw the photo was impressed or supportive. Some critical comments included claims of inappropriate behavior surrounding the First Lady.

This is not the first time the Biden administration has publicly supported the drag community and broader LGBT rights. In December 2022, President Biden welcomed drag activist Marti Cummings for the signing of the “Respect for Marriage Act.”

Marti Cummings, a non-binary drag artist, expressed gratitude for being included in such a momentous occasion at the White House. But later, some of Cummings’ previous online statements raised eyebrows. For instance, one post showed Cummings with a child and other drag performers, hinting that the child was eager to join them in future performances. Some other posts by Cummings emphasized his dedication to Drag Queen Story Hour and his aim to promote acceptance and joy.

Furthermore, during a pride month event at the White House, some controversy arose when transgender activist Rose Montoya and other activists chose to bare their chests. After facing criticism, the White House decided to exclude them from subsequent events.
