(TheProudRepublic.com) – Much like her flip-flopping viewpoints on several other issues, Kamala Harris’ claims of gun ownership and her stance on gun control are raising eyebrows among patriotic Americans.
Her recent statements about being a gun owner are overshadowed by her long history of supporting strict gun control measures, leaving many to question her true intentions regarding the Second Amendment.
During a recent ABC News debate, Harris attempted to distance herself from the “gun-grabber” label by declaring, “I am a gun owner, and I own a gun for probably the reason a lot of people do – for personal safety. I was a career prosecutor.”
However, as California’s Attorney General, she endorsed a brief arguing against the individual right to keep and bear arms in the landmark Heller case.
This action alone raises serious doubts about her commitment to protecting the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens.
Furthermore, Harris has consistently advocated for policies that would violate Americans’ constitutional rights.
She supports bans on so-called “assault weapons,” universal background checks and red flag laws – all of which could be used to restrict law-abiding citizens’ access to firearms.
“We have to work out the details — there are a lot of details — but I do…We have to take those guns off the streets,” Harris has said.
Perhaps most alarming is Harris’ past support for mandatory buyback programs, which many Second Amendment advocates view as a form of confiscation.
Although she has since backtracked on this position, her history of endorsing such extreme measures casts doubt on her current claims that she supports responsible gun ownership.
The Biden-Harris administration’s push for the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, praised as the most significant gun safety law in nearly 30 years, has only fueled concerns among gun rights supporters.
This legislation, coupled with their calls for even more restrictive measures, signals a clear agenda to chip away at Americans’ constitutional rights.
“And let us be clear, it does not have to be this way, as our friends in Australia have demonstrated,” Harris stated.
Harris’ reference to Australia’s gun control measures is particularly troubling, given that country’s history of mandatory buybacks and strict firearms regulations.
This comparison raises legitimate fears that the Democrat may harbor similar aspirations for the United States, despite claiming the contrary.
