Early on Saturday (July 8) morning, a drunk man from Delaware allegedly bit a police dog “multiple times” while he attempted to evade arrest.

Jamal Wing, 47, was allegedly aggressively resisting arrest after State Police stopped him at 1:41 a.m. in a parking lot in Wilmington, Delaware, for speeding on a roadway, according to a statement from State Police.

According to police, Wing got out of his Toyota Camry “without being told” and defied orders from troopers to get back in.

When the troopers and a K9 tried to arrest Wing, he nipped the canine in an effort to escape capture.

Wing persisted in his resistance and repeatedly bit the DSP K9, according to the police.

When troopers finally caught up with Wing, they noticed symptoms of intoxication and smelled alcohol on his breath.

Wing was transported to a hospital for treatment after suffering various wounds, including a gash above his left eye. But after getting to the hospital, he persisted in trying to flee and attacked a trooper, injuring the trooper and causing damage to police equipment.

Local authorities also explained Wing hurt two troopers and the K9, and both required medical attention.

After being discharged from the hospital, Wing was arrested and charged with several offenses, including two counts of assaulting a police officer, one count of assaulting a law enforcement dog, driving while intoxicated, two counts of resisting with force or violence, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct, failing to have the necessary insurance, exceeding the posted speed limit, and failure to sign and carry a license.

Wing is being detained at the Howard R. Young Correctional Facility under a cash bond of $34,200.
