As chaos descended on the southern border on Sunday (March 12), when a group of at least 1,000 migrants rushed an entry point along El Paso, Texas, critics have called for the Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security, Alexander Mayorkas, to resign.

Sheriff Richard Jones of Butler County, Ohio, expressed his belief that the U.S. is “losing the battle,” comments he could make following a visit to the southern border to assess the crisis firsthand.

Jones made the comments on “Fox & Friends First,” where he also called on Mayorkas to hand in his recognition as he revealed the appalling state the U.S. border is in, explaining that at certain points along the border, “there’s not even any security.”

Jones called for Mayorkas to resign immediately, asserting that the DOJ Secretary was a liar that didn’t believe the country’s immigration system was in crisis despite the recent flood of Migrants.

Instead, Jones argued the crisis was clear, given that “a thousand people rush[ed] the border, and they come across.”

The Ohio Sheriff noted that before, migrants would only attempt the illegal crossing at night when it was dark, insinuating that the Migrant crisis has escalated as Migrants were now brazen enough to “come across in the daylight.”

Jones also highlighted that migrants from 171 countries — including Russia and China — used the southern border to cross into the U.S.

Footage of migrants rushing the fenced border showed Migrants of all ages attempting to overwhelm the electric fencing and enter the U.S. illegally.

Border sources, however, reveal that the migrants’ attempts were thwarted.
