(TheProudRepublic.com) – The prospect of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump reclaiming the White House this fall has sent shockwaves through his former personal attorney, as he is scared of being the target of fierce retribution for testifying against him.
Michael Cohen has revealed plans to leave the country and change his name if Trump wins the presidential elections.
He served as Trump’s personal lawyer for many years, handling sensitive legal matters and business dealings.
However, their relationship soured after Cohen pleaded guilty to crimes like tax evasion and lying to Congress in 2018.
Cohen has been vocal about the dangers he perceives for himself and others who have opposed Trump. He even testified against Trump during both criminal and civil fraud trials, with his testimony contributing to a significant $454 million judgment against Trump.
In turn, Cohen believes the Supreme Court’s decision granting presidential immunity is a dangerous precedent that emboldens the former president.
“Now, he thinks it’s not only can I do whatever I want, but I can’t even be prosecuted. It’s a get out of jail free card solely for the president,” Cohen warned.
“Well, I’m out of here,” he remarked.
“I’m already working on a foreign passport with a completely different name. I don’t know how it’s going to work as far as dealing with my wife and my children. I certainly don’t want them moving to where I’m looking to go.” Cohen emphasized that he has “no choice” but to leave the country if Trump wins.
Moreover, Cohen has expressed concerns about Trump potentially using the Department of Justice (DOJ) to exact revenge on his critics, including other high-profile figures like MSNBC President General Mark Milley and Liz Cheney.
Furthermore, Cohen has noted that even private citizens like Stormy Daniels, who received hush money from Trump, have considered leaving the U.S. due to threats from Trump supporters.
Cohen’s fears are compounded by his regrets and lessons learned from his time working for Trump. He wishes he could undo his decision to serve as Trump’s attorney and has since struggled to restore his tarnished reputation.
Despite remaining a Democrat, Cohen is open to supporting a GOP candidate who promises to unify the country. He continues to sound the alarm on the potential dangers of a Trump 2024 presidency.
