(TheProudRepublic.com) – In a much-needed initiative, under GOP House Majority Leader Steve Scalise’s leadership, Republicans fed up with antisemitism on college campuses are considering cutting federal funding for universities that allow pro-Palestinian speech.

Conservatives argue these universities need accountability for anti-Israel sentiments.

Top Republicans threaten to withdraw federal funding and accreditation from prestigious universities for tolerating pro-Palestinian protests.

House majority leader Steve Scalise discussed these intentions with the American Israel Public Affairs Committee.

The plan hinges on coordinating with a Trump administration, looking to defund universities over ideological stances.

Pro-Gaza protests have increased across campuses, leading to tensions with administrators.

Republicans view these actions as disorderly and antisemitic, weaponizing them politically against Democrats.

A future Trump administration might sever accrediting agencies with liberal policies, affecting federal funding.

Against this backdrop, the leftist American Civil Liberties Union criticizes Republican plans as attacks on academic freedom.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis also supports shutting down Students for Justice in Palestine chapters, citing anti-terrorism laws.

Legal experts warn such measures could infringe upon First Amendment rights, especially at public universities.

“We’re looking at federal money, the federal grants that go through the science committee, student loans. You have a lot of jurisdiction as president, with all of these different agencies that are involving billions of dollars, some cases a billion alone going to one school,” Scalise said, cited by The Guardian.

AIPAC, a pro-Israel lobby group, supports candidates backing Israeli government actions, investing heavily against progressive Democrats.

The proposal involves investigating universities for civil rights violations to potentially revoke their accreditation.

Trump’s running mate, JD Vance, introduces legislation against protest encampments, threatening funding cuts.

Harvard University faced backlash after a student group blamed Israel for recent violence. Democrats commended universities resolving protests non-violently, contradicting schools witnessing police-led arrests.

Meanwhile, antisemitic acts on campuses have reportedly risen.

Education Committee Chair Virginia Foxx criticized Rutgers University’s pro-Palestinian agreements, viewing them as capitulating to antisemitic activists.

Republican candidates also propose canceling visas for international students supporting Hamas.
