(TheProudRepublic.com) – House Republicans blasted Kamala Harris after a Biden administration report revealed that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) had lost track of 32,000 unaccompanied illegal children.
The GOP accused Harris of overseeing a “humanitarian catastrophe” and argued that she “cannot be trusted to fix it.”
The report, issued by the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) internal watchdog, stated that over the past five years, more than 32,000 unaccompanied illegal children failed to show up for their immigration court hearings, while ICE was “not able to account” for their whereabouts.
Just one of the eight ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations offices audited had even “attempted to locate” the missing immigrant kids, and the rate of serving them with notices to appear in immigration court at one location stood at only 16%.
During a press call, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) was quick to respond, saying, “The southern border is a national security disaster and a humanitarian catastrophe, and Kamala Harris cannot be trusted to fix it.”
He added, “It is on her watch that all this has happened. And this is one of the biggest scandals in American history; it’s one of the most tragic; and we have to hold emergency hearings.”
Johnson, along with House Homeland Security Committee Chair Mark Green (R-TN) and House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan (R-OH), laid the blame squarely on Harris, who is both the Democrat nominee for president and the border czar under Joe Biden’s administration.
Additionally, Republicans were particularly critical of the speeches made by Democrats at the Democratic National Convention (DNC) in Chicago, including Biden’s keynote address that extended into Tuesday morning.
During his speech, Biden went on the offensive about his border policy despite the fact that over 10 million illegal aliens have entered the country during his time in office.
“Their speeches are full of fantasy and not facts,” Johnson asserted. “This is the largest gaslighting operation in the history of American politics.”
