Although Americans do their best with today’s economy, another food safety alert threatens American families, as another food recall is underway due to listeria contamination.

Price Chopper and Market 32 have issued recalls for chicken wraps potentially contaminated with deadly listeria bacteria.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued a public health alert for ready-to-eat chicken and bacon wrap products sold at Big Y and Price Chopper stores throughout Massachusetts, New York, and Connecticut.

These products, produced on May 2, could expose American families to serious health risks while government regulators continue their pattern of delayed responses to public safety threats.

The affected items include Big Y Quick Easy Meals Chicken Bacon Ranch Wrap, which has a sell-by date of May 5, and Market 32 by Price Chopper Chicken Bacon Ranch Wrap, which has a sell-by date of May 7.

Both products have the lot code 25122. The recall also affects Price Chopper brand Chicken Caesar and Buffalo Chicken wraps with UPCs 4173500762 and 4173500763, respectively.

Government officials claimed a positive test for listeria monocytogenes prompted the alert.

While no illnesses have been reported so far, the potential consequences of listeria infection are severe, especially for vulnerable populations like the elderly and pregnant women.

“Consumption of food contaminated with listeria can cause listeriosis, a ‘serious’ infection that especially affects older adults, people with weakened immune systems, and pregnant women and their newborns,” the FSIS wrote.

Listeriosis symptoms include fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, convulsions, and gastrointestinal issues.

For pregnant women, the infection can cause miscarriages, stillbirths, premature delivery, or life-threatening infections in newborns.

While officials stated these products are now past their sell-by dates and no longer available for purchase, concerned consumers who may have these items in their possession should discard them immediately or return them to their local store for a full refund.

The company has activated its Broadnet recall notification program to alert customers directly.

Americans with questions about this recall can contact Rachael’s Food Corporation at or reach Market 32 and Price Chopper.

Meanwhile, those experiencing symptoms after consuming these products should seek immediate medical attention.
