(TheProudRepublic.com) – Aimed at destabilizing the entire nation, top U.S. intelligence officials warned Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump about new deadly threats from Iran targeting his life.
This news underscores the ongoing dangers Trump continues to face even as he runs for office again.
Steven Cheung, the spokesperson for Trump’s campaign, confirmed the gravity of the threats, stating:
“President Trump was briefed earlier today by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence regarding real and specific threats from Iran to assassinate him in an effort to destabilize and sow chaos in the United States.”
This highlights the assassination threats against the former president as a dire national security issue.
In turn, U.S. officials characterized the threats as “real and specific,” necessitating an immediate response.
Following this intelligence, the Secret Service has ramped up security measures around Trump.
The Office of the Director of National Intelligence has acknowledged the briefing but has not released specific details to the public. This briefing comes amid escalating tensions between the U.S. and Iran.
While efforts to obtain a response from Iran’s mission to the United Nations went unanswered, Iranian state media quickly dismissed the assassination plot allegations as “unsubstantiated and malicious.”
Earlier assessments also revealed an attempted assassination on Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13, although no confirmed link to Iran has been established.
Just this September, another attempt in West Palm Beach, Florida, saw Iranian efforts thwarted once again.
Meanwhile, Trump had previously declined intelligence briefings to avoid being accused of leaking information.
Nonetheless, he has made public statements about the threats and the dangers posed by Iranian activities.
The GOP leader expressed his appreciation to Congress for approving additional funding for the Secret Service, reflecting the seriousness of these threats.
Most alarmingly, Trump’s campaign accused Iran of hacking attempts back in June, a claim confirmed by U.S. agencies.
The alleged hacking breach primarily aimed to send critical documents to Biden campaign associates, marking another covert effort by Iran against Trump’s interests.
Addressing these persistent threats emphasizes the ongoing geopolitical struggles the United States faces on an international level, with ramifications on home soil.
In addition, the Senate has since passed a bill ensuring that major presidential candidates receive Secret Service protection equivalent to Joe Biden’s, which is now pending his signature.
