(TheProudRepublic.com) – Seasoned Democrat strategist James Carville admitted that conservatives are right as he blamed the Democrats’ alignment with “defund the police” advocacy and “wokeness.”

He argued that these misguided liberal policies have severely damaged the Democrats’ appeal and led to Kamala Harris’ crushing defeat in the 2024 presidential election.

Donald Trump secured a second term as President, with Republicans regaining control of both the Senate and likely the House.

This devastating loss for Democrats has prompted soul-searching within the party, with Carville at the forefront of those calling out the left’s fatal mistakes.

Speaking on his Politics War Room podcast, Carville did not mince words when discussing the Democrat Party’s “big, big mistakes” in the 2024 presidential election.

He attributed the losses to a “sense of dishonor” among voters, directly linking it to perceptions from the “woke era” that has infected the party.

Moreover, Carville reserved particular outrage for the “defund the police” movement, which he described as a major hindrance for Democrat candidates, including Harris. He did not hold back, calling it “the three stupidest words in the English language.”

This radical stance, originating from the Black Lives Matter movement, advocated for reallocating police funds to community services – a notion that clearly did not resonate with mainstream American voters.

“We could never wash off the stench of it,” Carville said in an interview with The New York Times.

He continued, “It’s like when you get smoke on your clothes and you have to wash them again and again. Now people are running away from it like the devil runs away from holy water.”

The veteran strategist also criticized the Democrati Party’s initial support for Joe Biden’s reelection and the lack of a competitive nomination process after his withdrawal.

Carville highlighted how Democrats have become inextricably linked with “wokeism” or “identitarianism,” suggesting that voters now perceive the party as prioritizing identity politics over the needs of everyday Americans.

In addition, Carville pointed out that the Democrats failed to address the public’s desire for change.

With 65% of voters feeling the country was “on the wrong track,” the party’s inability to offer a compelling alternative to the status quo proved disastrous.
