(TheProudRepublic.com) – In what might as well be considered an act of revenge against Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for endorsing Donald Trump, the Biden-Harris administration has just ended the former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s Secret Service protection.
Kennedy, who had been a prominent contender, chose to halt his campaign efforts in both red and pivotal swing states on Friday, subsequently endorsing former President Donald Trump.
Kennedy’s spokesperson, Stefanie Spear, elaborated to CBS News that Kennedy “no longer has USSS protection” subsequent to the suspension of his campaign.
Anthony Guglielmi, the Chief of Communications for the Secret Service, reiterated this status to The Daily Caller, stating that “Mr. Kennedy is no longer a protectee of the US Secret Service.”
However, he did not provide further specifics regarding the withdrawal of protection.
The journey to secure Secret Service protection was fraught with challenges for Kennedy from the outset of his campaign in April.
It was only after several months of persistent requests that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, on July 15, announced that Kennedy would be granted the requisite protection.
This decision was made shortly after a grave incident at a Pennsylvania rally on July 13, where 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks made an assassination attempt on Trump.
The attack not only claimed the life of former volunteer fire chief Corey Comperatore but also resulted in a minor injury to Trump, who suffered a bullet-grazed ear, and severe injuries to two other individuals present.
In the aftermath of this violence, Trump advocated on Truth Social for the immediate provision of Secret Service protection for Kennedy, highlighting the urgency and the heightened security risks of the time.
Mayorkas echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the rigorous approach of the Secret Service towards threat assessment and security adjustments in collaboration with the FBI and other federal entities.
“We are in a heightened and very dynamic threat environment. The United States’ Secret Service, we — including the FBI and our other partners across the federal government — take the threats very seriously and adjust security measures as warranted, maintaining the safety and security of the president and the former president in their campaign events is one our most vital priorities,” he articulated.
Furthermore, he added, “In light of the weekend’s events, the president has directed me to work with the Secret Service to provide protection for Robert Kennedy Jr.”
Despite suspending his own presidential aspirations, Kennedy remains politically active and affirmed on Fox News this Sunday that he will now be “actively” campaigning in support of Donald Trump.
