A poll released Thursday (April 27) showed President Joe Biden’s approval rating is at an all-time low as Biden Launches his reelection campaign.
A Gallup poll found that only 37 percent of American adults approved of Biden’s performance as President, the lowest since July 2022, when only 38 percent approved.
Fifty-nine percent of participants said they disapproved of Biden’s performance.
According to Gallup, Biden’s approval rating has remained in the low 40s for the past 19 months, a drastic decrease from the 57 percent he achieved shortly after he took office in January 2021.
In Thursday’s poll, his average dropped to 39.7 percent in the ninth quarter of his Presidency, reaching a figure lower than former President Donald Trump’s 41.6 percent, which he achieved during the same period.
According to party data, 83 percent of Democrats, 31 percent of Independents, and 4 percent of Republicans said they approve of Biden’s performance. However, Gallup noted that the Independents’ 31 percent approval rating is tied for Biden’s lowest score among the group, down nine percentage points from February of this year.
According to the survey, the deterioration in Biden’s job approval is consistent with Americans’ increasingly negative views of the economy.
Only 16 percent rated the economy as excellent or good; 37 percent thought it was “fair;” and 47 percent think it’s bad, compared to 43 percent who felt the same in March.
Only 19 percent of participants say the economy is getting better, while the overwhelming majority, 75 percent, say it’s getting worse.
The poll closed on Tuesday (April 25), the same day Biden announced he would be seeking a second term in the White House, despite other polls showing the majority of those in his party do not want him to run again.
