Biden is not happy at all!
According to reporting by the New York Times, President Joe Biden is growing frustrated about questions regarding whether or not he will run again in 2024, with the President and his top aides interpreting the speculation as disrespect.
In its report, the New York Times revealed how “several” sources noted that Biden and his “inner circle were confounded by Democrats’ discussions about a Plan B when the one person who has defeated Donald J. Trump has made clear he intends to run again.”
The outlet also mentioned how Biden expressed to aides that he felt this recent round of questions surrounding his reelection reminded him of how other Democrats revealed they were concerned about his age and abilities.
In the face of skyrocketing inflation and debilitatingly high gas prices, several Democrats questioned whether the President has the fortitude to lead the party going into 2024, according to the New York Times.
These critics have expressed doubt about Biden’s “temperament for partisan combat,” with insiders revealing Biden blames these “doubters for the current round of questioning.”
But questions surrounding Biden’s ability don’t only stem from concern but also help them stand out, the Times reported.
South Carolina Democratic gubernatorial candidate Joe Cunningham, who is running against incumbent Gov. Henry McCaster, has expressed his desire that Biden leaves the nomination “to a new generation of leadership,” something Biden’s top advisers have dismissed, rejecting the idea “that an open primary would deliver Democrats a stronger standard-bearer.”
Instead, the New York Times report reveals that Biden’s top advisers warn that while Vice President Kamala Harris would garner significant support, “she’s unlikely to clear the field, leading to a messy race that could widen the party’s divisions on issues of race, gender and ideology.”
