(TheProudRepublic.com) – As a gift of truth to Joe Biden for his 81st birthday, a Harvard-Harris poll revealed significant concerns among voters regarding his suitability for the presidency, explicitly questioning his mental fitness and age-related capability.
This poll, involving 2,851 registered voters nationwide, comes amidst growing anxiety within the Democratic Party about Biden’s dismal chances in a potential electoral rematch with former President Donald Trump.
The survey asked participants: “Is Joe Biden mentally fit to serve as President of the United States or do you have doubts about his fitness for office?” A significant 58% of respondents expressed doubts about Biden’s fitness for office, while only 42% affirmed his mental fitness.
Notably, while a substantial 71% of Democratic participants believe he is mentally fit, a striking 81% of Republicans and 69% of third-party and unaffiliated voters harbor concerns about his fitness.
Another critical inquiry in the poll asked voters whether they believe Biden “is showing he is too old to be President or” if he appears “fit to be president.” Here, two-thirds of voters perceived Biden as too old for the presidency, including an overwhelming 89% of GOP voters and 72% of independents. In contrast, 63% of Democrats maintain that he has demonstrated fitness for office, although 37% within the same demographic raise concerns about his age.
The poll further reveals that nearly half of all voters perceive Biden as deteriorating in his presidential role. Only 28% see him as improving, and 23% believe his performance has remained constant. In this regard, a majority of independents (55%) and a more significant majority of Republicans (73%) consider Biden to be worsening as president, while a slight majority of Democrats (51%) view him as improving.
This Harvard-Harris poll also indicates Biden trailing Trump in a hypothetical head-to-head general election. These findings align with Breitbart News’s Wendell Husebø’s observations, citing a Politico report highlighting growing concerns among Democrats about Biden’s potential performance against Trump in a future election.
Politico’s report, authored by Elena Schneider, Holly Otterbein, and Jonathan Lemire, notes that while Biden’s close allies believe in his mental acuity, some concede that he seems frail.
The poll, conducted in mid-November 2023, does not specify a margin of error.
