(TheProudRepublic.com) – In a not-so-surprising turn of events if you’ve been following what has been happening, a new poll indicates Joe Biden’s approval rating on a key responsibility of his has hit a record low.
Only 32% of Americans approve of Biden’s handling of the border issue, the lowest figure the president has seen on this topic. Conversely, a significant 68% of respondents disapprove of his border management.
The poll also reflects a lack of confidence in Congressional Republicans regarding border issues. Despite their commitment to prioritize border policy, only 35% of Americans approve of GOP lawmakers’ handling of the border, while 65% disapprove.
The perception of the border situation is grim among the American public. 45% of respondents consider it a crisis, and an additional 30% view it as a serious problem.
A notable 63% believe it should be more challenging for migrants to cross into the U.S., with only 16% advocating for easing the process.
Public opinion towards immigrants is largely negative, as nearly half of the poll’s respondents believe that immigrants crossing the border will negatively impact American society in the long run, while only 22% see potential benefits.
The poll also touches on the contentious issue of transporting migrants to northern states.
While 57% of all respondents disapprove of this practice, a majority of Republicans (53%) support it, reflecting the actions of Republican-led states that have been sending migrants to Democratic-led cities in the north.
This poll, conducted among 2,157 adults from January 3 to January 5, carries a margin of error of ±2.8 percentage points.
