He has been arrested.
You can see a video of some of what occurred and a photo of the suspect further down this post.
Specifically, just a short while ago, United States Capitol Police apprehended an individual armed with an AR-15 near the U.S. Senate’s office buildings.
The suspect, reportedly in possession of the firearm, was detained in the vicinity of Union Station, as per an official statement from the Capitol Police.
Photographs taken during the arrest depict the accused clad in a tan sweatsuit branded with “Boominati Worldwide,” the record label established by music producer Metro Boomin.
The Capitol Police issued a reassurance, stating, “At this time we have no reason to believe there is an ongoing threat.”
They emphasized that they were conducting a thorough investigation of the suspect’s possessions as a precautionary measure and promised to disseminate additional information upon confirmation.
This incident occurred after an earlier caution regarding a potentially dangerous package located in Upper Senate Park, immediately north of the Capitol building, prompting advisories to steer clear of the area.
The atmosphere in the Capitol complex has been tense, particularly after a rally supporting Palestinian causes in Washington, D.C., last Saturday.
The event saw a massive turnout, with participants marching to the White House and voicing their demands with chants.
The demonstration culminated with some individuals pressing against the presidential residence and leaving graphic imprints while denouncing the President for the U.S. government’s support of Israel amidst its conflict with Hamas.
