(TheProudRepublic.com) – In another case of government overreach, Carolina Prime Pet is issuing a national recall of its “Hollywood Feed Carolina-Made Chicken Chips” dog treats due to a potential Salmonella outbreak.

See the tweet below.

This recall, affecting 16 states, raises questions about the Food Drug Administration’s (FDA) excessive interference in Americans’ daily lives and pet care choices.

Ever eager to flex its regulatory muscles, the FDA announced on November 23, 2024, that Carolina Prime Pet, Inc. of Lenoir, North Carolina, had to issue a recall for their popular dog treats.

The affected products, packaged in 16-ounce bags, expire November 13, 2025, and have lot code 20051324L2.

While the government claimed this recall is for safety, it is worth noting that no illnesses have been reported in connection with these treats.

The FDA’s announcement stated that Salmonella can affect both animals and humans, with symptoms including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and fever.

“Salmonella can affect animals eating the product and there is risk to humans from handling contaminated products, especially if they have not thoroughly washed their hands after having contact with the products or any surfaces exposed to these products,” the company wrote in their recall notice.

While the contamination was allegedly discovered through routine quality control by a third-party lab, the recall affected not just local stores but also online sales, potentially crippling a small business that’s trying to provide quality products for dogs.

Consumers who have purchased these treats are being told to stop using the product and contact Carolina Prime Pet for a refund or replacement.

In addition, this situation raises questions about whether these constant recalls and regulations are truly about safety or if they are just another way for big government to exert control over every aspect of Americans’ lives.
