The “Love Connection” legend leaves behind a legacy of entertainment and unwavering American values.
Woolery, a true patriot who served in the U.S. Navy before his television career, died of breathing trouble at his Texas home.
Born on March 16, 1941, in Ashland, Kentucky, Woolery’s journey to stardom began with a music career.
He was part of the band The Avant-Garde, known for the hit “Naturally Stoned,” before transitioning to television and becoming a household name.
Woolery’s career in television was nothing short of legendary. He hosted “Wheel of Fortune” from its 1975 premiere until 1981 when Pat Sajak replaced him after a salary dispute – a move that many fans still consider a loss for the show.
He then went on to host “Love Connection” from 1983 to 1994, overseeing over 2,000 episodes and becoming synonymous with the phrase “two and two,” his iconic hand signal for commercial breaks.
“Wheel of Fortune” co-host Susan Stafford posted, “Chuck Woolery was without doubt the Real Deal. Our 7 years as the original host and hostess on Wheel of Fortune were like magic.”
Nevertheless, Woolery was more than just a game show host. He was a staunch defender of conservative values and the First Amendment.
In his later years, he co-hosted the right-wing podcast Blunt Force Truth, where he continued to oppose the liberal agenda and advocate for American patriots.
Woolery was not afraid to speak his mind, even when it went against the mainstream narrative.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, he bravely called out the exaggeration of the virus for political reasons, a stance that resonated with many Americans who were skeptical of the government’s overreach.
“President Obama’s popularity is a fantasy only held by him and his dwindling legion of juice-box-drinking, anxiety-dog-hugging, safe-space-hiding snowflakes.” Woolery once remarked.
Woolery’s conservative views even caught the attention of President Trump, who retweeted him during the height of the pandemic.
In addition, he told The New York Times once that he described himself as a gun-rights activist, a conservative-libertarian and constitutionalist, noting that he had not revealed his politics in liberal Hollywood over fear of retribution.
