(TheProudRepublic.com) – In a disgusting act exposing the left’s sickening true face, 158 House Democrats opposed a resolution presented by South Carolina Republican Rep. Nancy Mace, which seeks to make noncitizens convicted of sex offenses ineligible for entry into the US and subject to deportation.
A total of 215 Republicans supported the Violence Against Women by Illegal Aliens Act, with unanimous agreement within the party.
In contrast, only 51 Democrats supported the resolution, while 158 opposed it.
Representative Mace commented to the Daily Caller, stating, “158 Left-wing members of Congress just voted against deporting rapists, pedophiles and murderers of women and kids.”
The Democrats who opposed the bill have largely refrained from discussing their decision publicly.
However, in May, House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Jerry Nadler voiced his concerns, labeling the bill as “dangerous.”
“By layering immigration consequences onto the existing challenges of talking about domestic abuse, this legislation will almost certainly create a chilling effect in immigrant communities with regard to the reporting of crimes of domestic violence. Further, this bill attempts to create a new ground of inadmissibility for domestic violence which does not require a conviction and does not have any of the exceptions that currently exist in the deportability grounds,” Nadler explained during a May hearing.
Democrat Rep. Pramila Jayapal of Washington criticized the bill as partisan, stating it promotes fear about immigrants.
“Here we are again, debating another partisan bill that fear mongers about immigrants, instead of working together to fix the immigration system. I probably shouldn’t be too surprised. Scapegoating immigrants and attempting to weaponize the crime of domestic violence is appearing to be a time-honored tradition for Republicans,” Jayapal commented before the vote.
Michigan Representative Hillary Scholten, a Democrat who supported the bill, criticized the resolution despite her vote, accusing House Republicans of leveraging women’s safety to promote anti-immigrant sentiment.
Speaker of the House Mike Johnson lauded Mace for her initiative in introducing the bill and criticized the Biden-Harris administration for the ongoing border crisis.
“The Biden-Harris border crisis has made daily life less safe for American women. They engineered this crisis, ignored efforts to solve it, and have refused to deport those who commit heinous crimes against American citizens,” Johnson said.
“As crime by illegal aliens continues to rise, I commend Rep. Mace’s proactive leadership in ensuring the rule of law is followed. HR 7909 will keep America safe since the Biden-Harris Administration will not,” Johnson added.
The Senate now has the opportunity to consider the bill anew or propose an alternative version.
